Paget's Disease of the Nipple

This is a rare condition of the nipple that’s associated with an underlying cancer. With this, DCIS cells extend along the major ducts and reach the nipple, before spreading into the deeper epidermal layers of the nipple and areola.

Present with an eczematous rash on the nipple and areola, which may be associated with nipple changes, bloody discharge, and a burning sensation.

Investigated with a biopsy.

N.B. It’s important to do the biopsy in these cases eventhough eczema of the nipple is a lot more likely. Have to be safe and rule out any underlying cancer.
