Laryngitis
Also known as Croup.
Causes:
Parainfluenza (80%)
Pertussis (Whooping cough)
Diphtheria
Presentation:
Children - Barking cough that’s worse at night
Adults - Hoarse voice, Persistent cough
Management:
Usually self-limiting so managed supportively
Speak as little as possible
Stay hydrated
Throat lozenges
Gargle warm salty water
Single dose of PO Dexamethasone
Nebulised Adrenaline if moderate/severe
