Wilm's Tumour

Wilm's tumour, also known as nephroblastoma, typically affects children < 5 years.

Presentation:

  • Abdominal mass

  • Abdominal distension

  • Haematuria

  • Hypertension


N.B. This tumour is usually incidentally found when a mass if felt on abdominal palpation.


Investigations:

  • US Abdomen

  • CT CAP

  • Renal biopsy

Management - Nephrectomy +/- adjuvant chemo/radiotherapy


Prognosis - Excellent with > 90% 5-year survival rate
